IOQM 2026 Cutoff Current Status

The official cutoff marks for IOQM 2026 have not been announced yet. The cutoff will be available only after the exam and result declaration. The Mathematics Teachers Association India, MTAI, is expected to release the IOQM 2026 cutoff along with the results in October 2026. Students will be able to check both the region-wise cutoff and their IOQM results on the official MTAI website.

IOQM 2026 Minimum Qualifying Marks

Before understanding region-wise cutoffs, every student must know the baseline eligibility rule.

To be considered for the next stage, students must first meet a baseline eligibility criterion by scoring at least 10% of the total marks — that is, 10 out of 100. After this minimum requirement is met, region-specific competitive cutoffs are applied separately for two categories. 

Important: Scoring 10 marks only makes you eligible for consideration. It does not guarantee RMO selection. The actual selection depends on your region and category.

IOQM 2026 Selection Criteria — Category A and Category B

Category A includes students of Classes 8, 9, 10 and 11, with the top 200 students from each region qualifying for the next stage. Category B includes Class 12 students, with the top 40 students from each region qualifying. 

In addition to qualification for the next stage, a uniform cutoff of 24 marks is prescribed nationwide for the award of the IOQM National Certificate.

Step 1: Calculate Your Score
Use the official answer key above to calculate your estimated IOQM 2026 score. Remember, Question 23 carries Bonus marks for all students always.

Step 2: Find Your Region:
Identify your official region code from the table above. Use the region you registered under during IOQM 2026 enrollment always.

Step 3: Check Your Category
Class 8 to 11 students, check the Category A cutoff. Class 12 students, check the Category B cutoff. Female students in Classes 8 to 11 can also check the Girls Category cutoff.

Step 4: Compare Your Score
If your score is between the Lower and Upper cutoff, you are in the selection zone. If your score is above the Upper cutoff, you are strongly qualifying. If your score is below the Lower cutoff, you may not qualify for RMO but could still qualify for a Certificate.

1. Telangana has the highest cutoff: With Category A lower cutoff at 47, Telangana is the most competitive region in IOQM 2026. Students here need significantly higher scores to qualify.

2. Delhi remains highly competitive: Category A lower cutoff at 40 and Category B lower cutoff at 49 make Delhi one of the toughest regions to qualify from.

3. Andhra Pradesh jumped significantly: Category A cutoff at 38 to 42 shows Andhra Pradesh has become highly competitive in IOQM 2026.

4. Rajasthan cutoff is high: Category A lower cutoff at 36 and Category B at 42 reflect strong competition from Rajasthan students this year.

5. Northeast regions remain accessible: States like Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, and Mizoram have minimum cutoffs at 10, making these regions far more accessible for qualification.

6. Jammu and Kashmir have low cutoffs: Jammu and Kashmir both have Category A lower cutoffs at 8, making them among the most accessible regions for IOQM qualification.

Factors That Affect IOQM 2026 Cutoff

Several factors determine the final cutoff every year:

Paper Difficulty: A harder paper generally leads to a lower cutoff. An easier paper pushes the cutoff higher as more students score well.

Number of Candidates: More students appearing in a region increases competition and typically raises the cutoff in that region.

Region-wise Competition: High-competition regions like Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka historically have higher cutoffs than less competitive regions.

Category Rules: Category A and Category B have completely separate cutoffs. Class 12 students are always compared only against other Class 12 students in their region.

Girls Quota: An additional girls quota exists within Category A. Girls qualifying through this quota have a separate cutoff in most regions.

Expected cutoff is an estimate, not a qualification result. Compare answers carefully and allow for revisions — final selection comes from the official process.

Whether you are confident of qualifying or borderline, start RMO preparation immediately. HBCSE lists RMO 2026 for 15 November 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM. That gives you barely two months to prepare for RMO after IOQM results. 

What If You Are Borderline — Below Expected Cutoff

If your estimated score is below the expected cutoff for your region, do not panic. Here is what you should do:

Wait for official results: Expected cutoffs are estimates. The actual cutoff may be lower than predicted based on this year’s paper difficulty.

Check the Girls Quota: Female students in Category A have a separate additional quota. Your qualifying marks may be lower than the main Category A cutoff always.

Apply for IOQM National Certificate: Even if you do not qualify for RMO, scoring 24 or above earns you the IOQM National Certificate, which is a valuable academic achievement.
